Cefalù, Abyss Clean Up e dibattito con Igor D’India

Presso il Cinema Astro di Cefalù, si è svolta la proiezione del docufilm Abyss Clean Up di Igor D’India, un evento che ha coinvolto attivamente la comunità scolastica dell’IISS Jacopo del Duca – Diego Bianca Amato nell’ambito del progetto Erasmus+ Green Schools for Green Europe.

All’evento hanno partecipato 150 studenti delle classi terze, le stesse classi che in questo anno scolastico lavorano sulla sostenibilità ambientale con i docenti di Educazione Civica e i dieci docenti più direttamente coinvolti nel progetto Erasmus+ Green Schools for Green Europe . Il regista Igor D’India, con grande puntualità e disponibilità, ha accolto gli studenti con entusiasmo, dimostrando una notevole apertura al dialogo. Dopo una breve introduzione del coordinatore del progetto, il regista ha augurato a tutti una buona visione, anticipando un momento di dibattito al termine della proiezione, in cui avrebbe risposto alle domande sul film, sul suo lavoro di adventure film maker, autore ed esploratore.

L’impatto del film sulla platea è stato profondo: studenti e docenti hanno dimostrato grande interesse e partecipazione, apprezzando il lavoro del regista siciliano e riconoscendo l’importanza di portare alla luce il disastro ambientale che colpisce i nostri mari, in particolare lo Stretto di Messina. L’evento ha rappresentato un’importante occasione di sensibilizzazione, spingendo i ragazzi a riflettere sull’urgenza di agire per la tutela dell’ambiente marino.

A conclusione dell’incontro, è stata consegnata a Igor D’India la lettera di intenti preparata dalla nostra scuola, esprimendo il desiderio di sostenere l’APS Abyss Clean Up Sicilia e la casa di produzione POPcult di Bologna. La sinergia tra il nostro istituto e queste realtà può rafforzare l’impegno educativo e ambientale, ampliando il raggio d’azione del progetto Green Schools for Green Europe non solo a livello locale, ma anche regionale e internazionale.

Grazie a eventi come questo, il nostro istituto si conferma un punto di riferimento per la formazione di una coscienza ecologica tra le nuove generazioni, contribuendo attivamente alla costruzione di un futuro più sostenibile.

Report on the Screening of Abyss Clean Up and the Discussion with Igor D’India

On March 24, 2025, at the Cinema Astro in Cefalù, the screening of the documentary Abyss Clean Up by Igor D’India took place. This event actively engaged the school community of IISS Jacopo del Duca – Diego Bianca Amato as part of the Erasmus+ Green Schools for Green Europe project.

The event was attended by 150 third-year students and 10 teachers from the project team more directly involved in the topics of Circular Economy, Eco Art, Green Sports dealt with the Erasmus+ project and the school curricula regarding the transversal subject Civic Education. The director, Igor D’India, arrived punctually and warmly welcomed everyone, showing great openness to dialogue. After a brief introduction by the project coordinator, Mr. Gianni Catanese, he wished us an enjoyable screening and announced a post-film discussion where he would answer questions about the documentary, his work as an adventure filmmaker, author, and explorer.

The film had a significant impact on the audience: both students and teachers showed great interest and enthusiasm, appreciating the filmmaker’s work and recognizing the importance of raising awareness about the environmental disaster affecting our seas, particularly the Strait of Messina. The event was a crucial moment of awareness, encouraging young people to reflect on the urgent need to take action for marine conservation.

At the end of the meeting, we handed Igor D’India our letter of intent, expressing our desire to support the APS Abyss Clean Up Sicilia and the production company POPcult in Bologna. The synergy between our school and these organizations can strengthen our educational and environmental commitment, expanding the reach of the Green Schools for Green Europe project not only locally but also regionally and internationally.

Through events like this, our school reaffirms its role as a key player in fostering environmental awareness among new generations, actively contributing to the construction of a more sustainable future.
